Shopify Profit Calculator
See what you actually keep per sale after product cost, shipping, packaging, fees, tax, ad spend — and your share of monthly overhead.
Estimate only. Figures are for planning purposes — always confirm exact gateway and platform fees against your live Shopify account.
Selling price minus cost of goods isn’t your real profit on Shopify — payment processing fees, shipping, packaging, tax, and even your share of the monthly subscription all take a bite before you see the money.
The formula
Worked example
Say you sell something for $40. It cost you $14, packaging runs $1.50, delivery is $5. Add a $39/month Shopify plan spread across 200 orders — that’s about $0.20 per order. After all of that, you’re left with roughly $19.30, just over 48% margin.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Selling price | $40.00 |
| Product cost | −$14.00 |
| Packaging | −$1.50 |
| Delivery | −$5.00 |
| Shopify rent share | −$0.20 est. |
| Net profit | ≈ $19.30 |
That rent line looks small per order, but it’s easy to forget entirely — at low order volume, a $39 or $105/month plan can quietly eat a much bigger share of each sale than people expect.
A few things worth knowing
If you’re running paid ads, be honest about cost-per-acquisition too — a sale that looks profitable here can quietly be a loss once ad spend is counted. And don’t forget any payment processing fee your gateway charges separately — this calculator focuses on product, packaging, delivery, tax, and rent, so add processing costs under “Tax / extra fee” if you’d like them reflected here too.
As a rough benchmark, a lot of sellers aim for at least 30-40% margin after every cost above, just to leave breathing room for returns, ads, and unexpected overhead.
